important-media-logo-square-500xThe Sustainability Unconference was born from the Important Media network, an online media company covering sustainability and reaching about 3 million readers monthly. Scott Cooney, founder of the parent company of Important Media and the Sustainability Unconference, set a goal to go well beyond the web to reach people around the world with the joy, inspiration, hope, and real change that sustainability offers. From this idea the Sustainability Unconference was born.

Important Media’s deeply grassy roots made the unconference format the logical choice for the manifestation of this conference concept. Together with his partner Andrea Bertoli, Cooney is planning┬áto host┬áthe Unconference in cities across America in 2015, and to build a blueprint so that others, wherever they are, can host their own sustainability unconferences using this website and unconference model.

It was sustainability that brought Cooney and Bertoli together, and it’s sustainability that unites them in a common goal to better the world for all its inhabitants.
